Moodboard / Reference Images filmmaking ke development stage ka ek creative aur visual step hai jiska use director, production designer, cinematographer aur creative team ko ek shared visual vision dene ke liye kiya jata hai. Ye ek visual tool hota hai jo film ke overall mood, tone, style, color palette, lighting, texture, costume, location, aur emotion ko express karta hai.

Purpose of Moodboard / Reference Images:

  1. Director aur team ke vision ko visually communicate karna
  2. Producer, investor aur cast ko concept samjhana visually
  3. Pre-visualization for art department, costume, cinematography
  4. Tone aur feel decide karna (dark, gritty, dreamy, vibrant, realistic, etc.)

Moodboard Me Kya Kya Include Hota Hai:

  1. Color Palette
    – Film me jo dominant rang dikhenge (e.g., warm tones, cold blues, sepia)
    – Use karne ke liye tools: Adobe Color, Coolors.co

  2. Lighting Style
    – Naturalistic, low key, high key, contrast-heavy, silhouette etc.
    – Example shots from other films ya photography

  3. Cinematography / Frame References
    – Similar shots, camera angles, lens reference
    – Aspect ratio, camera movement ideas

  4. Location Looks
    – Interior aur exterior spaces jaisi jagah dikhana jahan aap shoot karna chahte ho
    – Can be real places or movie references

  5. Character Mood / Costume Reference
    – Actor ke look ke sample images (attitude, dressing, hairstyle)
    – Cultural or thematic costume references

  6. Set Design / Props
    – Background setup, furniture, environment style
    – Time period or fantasy/sci-fi world ka indication

  7. Emotional Vibe / Expressions
    – Film ka emotional texture – joy, loss, revenge, nostalgia
    – Related scenes from films, photography, paintings

  8. Font & Typography Style (for title or dialogues)
    – Especially if your film has a stylized visual identity

Moodboard Ke Examples (Theme Based):

  • Romantic Film: Soft pinks, sunset frames, close-ups of couples, warm lights
  • Horror Film: Desaturated blacks/reds, foggy landscapes, harsh shadows, scary makeup
  • Sci-Fi Film: Neon blues, tech elements, futuristic city shots, clean metallic sets
  • Period Drama: Vintage colors, old furniture, retro clothing, classic lighting

Tips:

  • Consistency is key — sabhi images ek hi tone ke ho
  • Har moodboard ek scene ya theme ko define kar sakta hai
  • Reference lena allowed hai, but originality banana zaroori hai
  • Use images from films, fashion photography, paintings, architecture
