Film Making Course - Script Finalization
4. Script Finalization – “Shoot Karne Layak Script”
🔹 Script Finalization Kya Hota Hai?
Jab tum multiple drafts, feedbacks aur rewrites ke baad ek aisi version likh lete ho jo:
- Directors, producers, actors, DOP sabko samajh aaye,
- Shooting ke liye tayaar ho,
- Aur technical departments follow kar saken,
Us version ko kehte hain: Final Script / Final Draft
Ismein creative + technical clarity dono honi chahiye.
Script Finalization Ke Main Goals:
- Kahani pura clear ho (beginning, middle, end)
- Scenes logical aur emotional ho
- Characters ke arc properly develop ho
- Dialogue natural ho
- Pacing sahi ho – bore na kare
- Har scene ka purpose ho
- Shooting ke hisaab se practical ho
Script Finalization Ka Step-by-Step Process:
Step 1: Draft Writing (At least 3-5 versions)
- First Draft: Pure dil se likho, bina soch ke flow me.
- Second Draft: Structure aur logic fix karo.
- Third Draft: Dialogue, transitions, emotion polish karo.
- Fourth Draft: Technical readability, clarity.
- Fifth Draft (Final Polish): Typos, formatting, scene length optimize karo.
Step 2: Feedback Lo (Table Reads / Peer Review)
- Table read karao: Actors ya dost mil ke script padhein
- Director ka feedback lo
- Producer ya investor ke liye concise version tayyar karo
- Rewrite karo feedback ke hisaab se
Step 3: Scene Purpose Check Karo
Har scene se yeh sawaal puchho:
- Kya yeh scene story ko aage badha raha hai?
- Kya yeh character ko develop kar raha hai?
- Kya is scene ke bina film waise hi chalegi? (Agar haan, toh hata do)
Step 4: Character Arc Finalize Karo
- Kya hero starting aur ending me change ho gaya hai?
- Kya villain samajhne layak hai?
- Kya side characters ka purpose clear hai?
Step 5: Dialogue Final Polish
- Har character ka apna unique voice ho
- Short and punchy dialogue likho
- Subtext ka use karo (jo unka mood dikhaye bina bole)
- Silence bhi likho – kabhi kabhi "kuch na kehna" zyada keh deta hai
Step 6: Shooting Friendly Script Banao
- Scene headings proper ho (INT/EXT, LOCATION, TIME)
- No unnecessary details
- Action present tense me likhi ho
- Transitions clear ho (CUT TO:, FADE IN:)
Step 7: Page Count Final Karo
- 1 page ≈ 1 minute of screen time
- Standard Hindi/English feature film = 90–120 pages
- Short film = 5–20 pages
- Web series episode = 20–30 pages per episode
